Day 1 – 2: Over the Mountains to the Fertile Central Valley
Travel the scenic and mountainous farmland through the heart of Costa Rica’s coffee, sugar and cattle country. Explore one of the area’s Volcano National Parks. Visit the country’s largest indigenous ruins and embark on a zip-line / canyoning tour. Along with its beauty and active lifestyle, Turrialba is Costa Rica’s epicenter for white-water paddling sports and mountain biking. Day 2 – 4: Paddle White Water and Sleep in Rainforest Paradise
Sleep in and enjoy the morning; after all it is the best time of day in Costa Rica! Meet the team of guides before beginning the two-day, adrenaline-packed, white-water rafting trip. (For younger travelers or those looking for a slower pace, you can raft a calmer river.) The rafts will wind though an Indigenous Biological Reserve teeming with birds, butterflies, monkeys and other wildlife. Travel deep into the heart of the rainforest to enjoy million-star views at the river’s Eco-Lodge & Camp. Here you will enjoy the sounds of the jungle, incredible cuisine and an unforgettable night. Begin the morning with “gallo pinto”, the typical Tico breakfast, before plunging through some of the most intense white water and beautiful scenery that you’ve ever experienced!
Day 4 – 8: Remote Relaxation in the Osa Peninsula
After one night in the Central Valley, take an in-country flight to the remote Osa Peninsula. National Geographic has labeled this part of the country as “…one of the most biologically intense places on earth.” Here you will stay in an eco-lodge that exists in harmony with the surrounding jungle and beaches. Snorkel or scuba dive the reef and explore Corcovado National Park by foot and on boat. The sunsets are breath taking and the wildlife is ever-present.
