- Manuel Antonio National Park Tour – Home to an abundance of exotic wildlife and beautiful beaches, Manuel Antonio National Park is a one-of-a-kind destination. There are over 100 species of mammals and almost 200 species of birds in the park. Some frequently viewed residents include white-faced and howler monkeys, two- and three-toed sloths, and iguanas. The endangered squirrel monkey also calls the park home.
- Fly into Either Major Airport – Choose SJO (San Jose), LIR (Liberia), or a combination of the two. We’ll adapt the itinerary to the best beach for your travels.
Typical 9-day Costa Rica Romantic Tropical Paradise Itinerary
Day #1: Arrival – Transfer to Arenal – Night at Hot Springs
Fly into SJO (San Jose) & LIR (Liberia). or fly into one airport and out of the other to see as much of the country as possible. When you arrive, a private vehicle will be waiting outside the terminal to take you to your resort at the foot of the breathtaking Arenal Volcano. After settling into your room, spend your first evening soaking in the Arenal’s geothermal hot springs and enjoy a delicious dinner. A delicious dinner is included this first night before you return to your new home to melt into bed.
Day #2: Rainforest Canopy Tour – Afternoon to Explore or Relax
Breakfast is included at your hotel every morning on the Classic Honeymoon Itinerary. Enjoy the sites and sounds of birds and monkeys as you and your spouse fuel up for the day with fresh fruit and the traditional gallo pinto. After breakfast, a private guide will pick you up for a Hanging Bridges Hike, where you and your partner will enjoy exclusive early morning access to explore the rainforest canopy. The guide will help you spot sloths, monkeys, toucans, and other exotic animals as you traverse the hanging bridges in the forest canopy. After your tour, there is also time to explore the accompanying butterfly and orchid gardens. After the hanging bridges, get ready to fly through the cannot on to take a zip line tour. The afternoon is yours to relax together at the resort.

With no formal activities planned, the day is yours to relax and enjoy as you please. Sit by the pool, soak in the hot springs, book a couples massage, or head out on another epic adventure. For couples eager to keep exploring, Costa Rica Escapes is happy to help you plan an additional activity. Canyoning is a great option for thrill seekers, where you’ll spend your day on a guided adventure, repelling waterfalls and exploring the jungle. If you’d rather spot wildlife, explore a remote National Park in the Tenorio region of the country on a guided hike through the secondary and primary rainforest. The hike winds along the banks of the river, where two rivers merge to form a picturesque waterfall. If the smoking volcano outside of your window is calling your name, we can arrange a guided hike in Arenal Volcano National Park. This tour can also be done on horseback or foot.
Day #4: Adventure Transfer to the Pacific Coast
Private transport will take you from the Central Valley’s volcanic highlands to the Pacific Coast’s white-sand beaches. Those using SJO as their departure airport will travel to Manuel Antonio, a mountainous beach town. If you’re flying out of LIR, you will make your way north to sunny Guanacaste province. With the Costa Rica Honeymoon Itinerary, we can also include an optional white-water rafting excursion during transfer. Traverse the country on a fast-moving river while your luggage is transported safely. Once you arrive at the beach, the afternoon is yours to spend together, with your toes in the sand, getting acquainted with your charming boutique hotel.
Day #5: Day at Leisure
Spend the day as you wish. Relax at the hotel, enjoy the beach and the pool, or visit a secluded beach – we’ll fill you in on which one & how to get there. End the day with a romantic dinner for two at one of our favorite nearby restaurants.
Day #6: Morning at Leisure & Afternoon Snorkel & Sunset Catamaran Sail
Take the morning to enjoy coffee by the pool or beach and spend the first half of the day relaxing. After lunch, you’ll board a sailboat and head out to sea. Your guides will take you to a secluded cove and beach where you can swim and snorkel with local marine life. Enjoy a light lunch and beverages of your choice and take in a watercolor sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Return to the hotel with plenty of time to relax before another dinner for two.
Ah…Costa Rica sunsets…now that’s the perfect way to end the day on your honeymoon.Day #7: Guided Hike in National Park or Optional Activity
Embark on a private tour with a naturalist guide through one of Costa Rica’s famous coastal national parks and spot monkeys, iguanas, sloths, and more. If you’d prefer to spend the day on the water, Costa Rica Escapes can set up a deep-sea fishing charter or private surfing lessons.
Reward each other with a kiss at the top of your hike!Day #8: Day at Leisure or Optional Activity
The second-to-last day of your trip is set aside for leisure. We want you to return from your honeymoon or couple’s trip feeling rejuvenated. If you’d like to keep exploring, there are several half-day tours that Costa Rica Escapes can customize for you to keep the adventures rolling.
Day #9: Transfer to Airport for Flight Home
Costa Rica Escapes will make all the arrangements to get you to the airport in plenty of time for your flight back home.

- Both Liberia (LIR) & San Jose (SJO) airports can be used for this itinerary or any combination of these two airports.
- Two editions of this itinerary are available based on your departure airport.
- Couples flying out of SJO will visit Manuel Antonio National Park.
- Couples flying out of LIR will visit Playa Hermosa in Guanacaste.
- If you wish to visit other beaches, we can accommodate those requests.
- Upgraded, luxury accommodation options are available upon request for this itinerary.
- Day #4 offers travelers options:
- If you’re visiting Playa Hermosa in Guanacaste, you have the option to go on a white-water rafting excursion. Choose an intermediate to advanced class III & IV river rafting experience or a relaxing wildlife-filled safari float trip.
- If going to Manuel Antonio, you can include white-water rafting on a beginner class II & III river.
- A direct ground transfer in a private vehicle is also available for those who want to get directly to the beach.
